“Pyonkichi” Food Cart
Pyonkichi is a food cart located very close to Canal City Hakata. The cart’s name came from its owner’s nickname, who wanted a name that was likable and easy to remember.
Pyonkichi’s ramen (600 Yen; pictured above) is light and easy to eat even after a night of bar-hopping. The cart also features an array of familiar foods like hotchpotch, kebobs, and grilled fish, all at reasonable prices.
Pyonkichi’s owner says, “I leave it to fancy Japanese restaurants to serve food using expensive ingredients. Since I’m running a cart, I want it to feel like a cart, providing good food at a fair price.”
Close to hotels and the like, Pyonkichi attracts many diners who are traveling for business or leisure. The owner’s hope is that “people from out of town can relax with a drink and enjoy Hakata’s food carts.”
