Fukuoka Airport is more than just a transportation hub; it is also a destination that adds color to the start or end of your journey. Why not visit on your next day off?

What is Fukuoka Airport like?

Fukuoka Airport serves more than 25 domestic routes and over 20 international routes, making it a convenient hub for travelling both within Japan and abroad. Going beyond its function as just transportation infrastructure, the airport has undergone renovations and improvements to become an “Airport City” that complements certain urban functions.

It consistently ranks among the top airports in Japan for passenger volume. Furthermore, in SKYTRAX's “The World's Best Airport 2025” ranking, which evaluates passengers' experience of using airports, it proudly came in at 23rd place among airports worldwide!

This article looks at some ways of spending your time at Fukuoka Airport's Domestic Terminal, which is full of these attractions.

*The newly renovated International Terminal is also convenient and comfortable, equipped with facilities that allow you to experience the charm of Fukuoka Prefecture and Kyushu.

Just 5 minutes from Hakata Station! One of Japan's leading “airports near a station”

Fukuoka Airport boasts exceptional accessibility, just a 5-minute subway ride from Hakata Station and about 10 minutes from Tenjin Station. It is truly deserving of the title “eki chika kuko” (airport near the station). It is rare for an airport to be situated this close to the city center, even in other parts of the world, making Fukuoka Airport one of Japan's most convenient airports.

Another key advantage is the direct connection of Fukuoka City Subway to the Domestic Terminal, allowing travel unaffected by weather. This facilitates a smooth start to your sightseeing or business trip and allows efficient use of time right up until departure. Experience the unique comfort of an urban airport that is literally located right in the heart of the city.
