【2025–2026】New Year’s Eve & Countdown Events in Fukuoka Prefecture
As 2025 draws to a close, what kind of year has it been for you?
To welcome the start of 2026, Fukuoka Prefecture offers a variety of year-end events, from countdown celebrations illuminated by spectacular fireworks to traditional Joya-sai ceremonies that invite a calm and sacred start to the New Year.
Here, we introduce some of the most memorable New Year’s Eve events taking place across Fukuoka Prefecture.

Mojiko Retro “KANMON KANPAI” (Kitakyushu City)
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Mojiko Retro will host a one-night-only commemorative event themed around “Kanpai” (a toast) on December 31, 2025.
Highlights include a special collaboration stage and a live public broadcast with TV Nishinishi’s hugely popular variety show Goripara Kenbunroku.
The outdoor karaoke event “Yoshimoto KANMON KANPAI Karaoke”, now open for participants, invites everyone to join the fun alongside guest performer Koga Ken and Yoshimoto comedians.
The event also features a food and drink market, food trucks, and the sale of commemorative mugs, offering a festive and memorable experience.

Chikujo Town Countdown Fireworks (Chikujo Town)
The annual Countdown Fireworks will be held again this year.
Fireworks will light up the night sky along the coast in front of Hamanomiya Tsunashiki Tenmangu Shrine, celebrating the arrival of the New Year.
Come and welcome the New Year together while enjoying the beautiful fireworks.

Light-Up in Reiwa no Miyako Dazaifu (Dazaifu City)
From the end of the year into the New Year, the historic temples Kanzeon-ji and Kaidan-in, long cherished by visitors, will be beautifully illuminated.
Soft lighting will highlight the lecture hall and other structures, creating a magical nighttime atmosphere across Dazaifu.

Fukuoka Silvester Concert 2025
This New Year’s Eve music event invites members of the public to join a chorus and orchestra, performing together with professional singers and musicians to welcome the New Year.
Now in its 9th edition in 2025, the event returns to Fukuoka Sunpalace Hall for the first time in six years.
Why not celebrate the turn of the year in a festive and elegant atmosphere, surrounded by inspiring music?

Joya-sai (New Year’s Eve Ritual)
Welcome the New Year with a solemn and traditional Joya-sai ceremony held at local shrines.

[Munakata Taisha Shrine] Oharai Ceremony & Joya-sai (Munakata City)
Held at the end of the year, this ritual is performed to cleanse oneself of impurities accumulated over the year and to welcome the New Year with a refreshed body and spirit.
Following the Oharai Ceremony beginning at 3:00 PM, the Joya-sai will be conducted at the main shrine to solemnly conclude the year.Date & Time:Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 3:00 PM

[Miyajidake Shrine] Shiwasu Oharai Ceremony, Chinka-sai & Joya-sai (Fukutsu City)
These Shinto rituals are held to cleanse the impurities accumulated through daily life.
Along with the Joya-sai, which marks the end of the year, the Chinka-sai—a ceremony praying for protection from fire-related disasters in the local community—is also conducted.Date & Time:Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 5:00 PM

Held on New Year’s Eve, this ritual expresses gratitude for the year that has passed and offers prayers for safety and peace in the coming year.
