Tsuyazaki Ningyo
津屋崎人形
Cherished for Their Rustic Grace
With a history of around 230 years, Tsuyazaki Ningyo are simple yet dignified unglazed clay figures.
Each piece is crafted using the traditional two-piece mold method, passed down through generations of artisans.
Their vivid, powerful colors come from natural pigments mixed with glue and water.
The dolls range from large, era-reflective folk figures to the beloved “Moma Whistle”, shaped like an owl and known for its gentle sound and symbolism of good fortune.
