Yameya
八女矢
Arrows of Precision and Grace
Yame is known for its Yameya, crafted from high-quality arrow bamboo.
This tradition dates back to 1752, when arrow craftsmen employed by the Arima clan settled in the area.
Each arrow is straightened over a charcoal flame—a process called aratame—and assembled entirely by hand.
A single set consists of four perfectly matched arrows in length, weight, and feather placement.
Today, miniature decorative versions made with authentic materials and methods are also popular as gifts and ornaments.
