Handcrafted Love for Girls’ First Festival

The Yanagawa Mari is an essential part of Sagemon—hanging decorations displayed for a girl’s first Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival).
Each ball is formed from a wooden core wrapped with cotton and yarn, then embroidered with plant-dyed cotton threads in delicate geometric patterns.
Today, colorful rayon threads are also used, continuing this heartfelt tradition passed down through generations of mothers and daughters.
