Unique ’haniwa’ statues at the Sendo Ancient Tomb
ユニークな埴輪の仙道古墳
This is an ancient tomb from the end of the Tumulus Period that has two ditches around it. This tomb, a nationally designated historical ruin, is surrounded with ”Fence-shaped Cylindrical Haniwa” and ”Shieldbearer Warrior Haniwa.” This decorated tomb is known for being one of the rare tombs in Kyushu where an almost fully-intact ”Shieldbearer Warrior Haniwa” was excavated. Within the stone huts there are mysterious drawings of red/green circles and triangles. These are normally open to the public in spring and fall. In the arbor there is an actual-sized model stone hut that is always open for viewing.
