Washio Atago Shrine – Grand Setsubun Festival

【鷲尾愛宕神社】大節分祭

Washio Atago Shrine, known as a power spot in Fukuoka, holds a Grand Setsubun Festival on Setsubun day.

First, a ritual called the “Shiawase-boshi Festival” is performed at the main shrine to pray for protection from misfortune and household safety.

Then, starting at 11:30 AM, Shinto shrine maidens (miko) lead a lively bean-throwing ceremony, scattering lucky beans to bring good fortune.
