Nogata City Art Museum Annex (Art Space Tanio)

直方市美術館別館(アートスペース谷尾)

The Nogata Art Museum Annex (Art Space Tanio) is a 5 minute walk from the Nogata Tanio Art Museum. This nostalgic western style red brick building was built as the former Bank 17 Nogata Branch in the Taisho period (1912-1926). Currently, Art Space Tanio is now being used to display about 90 out of 250 artifacts collected by the late Kinya Tanio. Visitors to the museum can admire engravings from the Czech Republic, Germany, France and China, as well as goblets. Also on display are excavated artifacts of Edo Kiriko (cut glass from the Edo period), and Takatori pottery, which is originally from Nogata City with a 400 year old history.
