Santoka to Ryokuhei no Kuhi (Haiku of Santoka and Ryokuhei)

山頭火と緑平の句碑

Ryokuhei Kimura was a doctor from Yanagawa City and born in Itoda Town. A friend of the wandering haiku poet Santoka Taneda, Ryokuhei Kimura helped Santoka economically and emotionally as Sontoka often visited Itoda Town. The area around Itoda Town Hall is dotted with monuments known as Kuhi, or slabs of rock with haiku engraved on them. These Kuhi commemorate the literary achievements of these two men.
