he well, dating back to the ancient Yamato period (300-550 CE), is in the rear of the Kashii Temple grounds. Following the orders of 14th Emperor of Japan Chuuai and Empress Jingu, Minister Takeuchi Nosukune dug the well on this spot during a stay at the temple. Morning and evening, water would be ladled out to prepare rice for presentation to the Emperor and Empress. When used, this miraculous spring is said to have a history of maintaining eternal youth and longevity for 300 years. The Environment Agency has certified the well as one of the top 100 natural springs.
