What is a Sand Sculpture?
Sand sculptures are artworks created using only sand and water. At the Ashiya Sand Sculpture Exhibition, artists from Japan and abroad use the fine sand of Ashiya Beach to craft massive sculptures—some reaching up to 6 meters in height and 10 meters in width. These intricate and highly artistic works are truly a sight to behold.
In the evening, the sculptures are illuminated, transforming the venue into a magical, dreamlike world. We also recommend comparing the sculptures in daylight and under the night lights for a different experience.
This year’s theme is “Dinosaurs”, with professional sand sculptors invited from overseas to create works that both adults and children will surely enjoy.
