Kashii-gu Shrine – Setsubun Festival

Kashii-gu Shrine – Setsubun Festival

This is a Shinto ritual to drive away evil spirits and invite good fortune, performed with the bean-throwing tradition to mark the arrival of spring.

A prayer ceremony for protection from misfortune is also held for men and women celebrating their “toshidoshi” (zodiac year).

The event is lively and attracts many families with children, all hoping to catch some lucky beans.
