Mentaiko is spicy cod roe, which is one of the specialties of Fukuoka. Yamaya Factory Terrace is a Mentaiko experience facility where you can "know", "buy", and "eat" mentaiko. We hope you will come to love mentaiko even more. With this in mind, we have prepared services that can only be offered at a facility adjacent to the factory.

At the Mentaiko Factory (factory tour), visitors can enjoy learning about the production process of spicy cod roe through video images and displays. Through the factory tour window, you can also see a part of the actual factory, and the unseen parts of the factory are also shown in the video.
Since this is an open space, visitors are free to tour the museum during business hours without reservations.
The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat mentaiko, white rice, miso soup, and salad menu for visitors to enjoy factory-direct spicy cod roe to their heart's content.
The market offers freshly made mentaiko that can only be purchased here! Under the concept of "ALL YAMAYA," we aim to create a sales floor where you can find all YAMAYA products. Please enjoy shopping in the market-like store where products are lined up in various places.

Details Original Mentai-ko Making and Pickling Experience Course

You can experience "making cod roe" by marinating the cod roe in pickling liquid adjusted to your preferred spiciness with three types of chilli.
You can make your own mentaiko.
You can take home it you made during the experience.
The mentaiko will be matured for 168 hours in your refrigerator at home before being served. (Estimated time to take home: 6 hours)
