Kataoka Brewery
片岡酒造
Located in Toho Village at the eastern edge of Fukuoka Prefecture, this brewery has operated since 1898. Using pure water from the Hikosan Mountain Range and carefully selected rice, they handcraft sake with great care.
Among their products, “Junmai Ginjo Toho Ikken”—brewed with the famous spring water Iwaya Spring (selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Waters of the Heisei Era) and rice grown in terraced paddies nourished by it—is especially rich and full-bodied.
With the hope of revitalizing the region, the brewery collaborates with local community members, enjoying both rice cultivation and sake brewing together.
Their annual brewery opening, where visitors can enjoy sake in pottery sake cups unique to this ceramics village, is held on the last Sunday of April.
