HAKATAORI SANUI – Hakata Station Ming

A Hakataori specialty store directly operated by the weaving company Sanui Orimono, a traditional maker of Hakataori. Hakataori is known for its thick and firm fabric, which stays securely in place once tied. Because of this durability, it was historically favored by samurai as an obi strong enough to support the weight of a sword worn at the waist.
Today, we continue to make use of these unique qualities by producing a variety of items such as gift products and neckties. Each piece is carefully handmade—from design to sewing—by skilled artisans. In addition to Hakataori products, our shop also offers traditional crafts representing Fukuoka, including Aganoyaki pottery, Koishiwara-yaki pottery, and Hakata dolls.
