【Funagoya Onsen】Kawanoeki Funagoya Koibotaru

川の駅 船小屋 恋ぼたる

Next to Chikugo Regional Park along the Yabe River sits Kawanoeki Funagoya
Koibotaru, a welcoming spot with both an onsen facility and a local products market.
Loved by the community as a place to relax, it’s an easy stop for locals and visitors alike.
Known as a “beauty onsen,” the spring rises from 1,499 meters underground and features a carbonated, brownish cloudy onsen rich in minerals.
The large public bath includes two different open-air baths, with men’s and women’s sides switching weekly—adding a new atmosphere each time you visit.
In front of the onsen building, a free foot bath using natural onsen water is open to everyone, making it easy to enjoy a quick soak at any time.
For souvenirs, head to the on-site market, where the region’s appeal comes together in one place.
Fresh vegetables and fruit, seafood products, Yame tea, sake, sweets, and more are all available—making this a spot where you can enjoy not only the onsen, but also the seasonal blessings of Chikugo.
