Hakozaki-gu Shrine – Setsubun Festival

【筥崎宮】節分祭

Since ancient times, Setsubun has been a ritual for warding off misfortune and evil spirits. The practice of throwing beans to drive away demons has its origins in the Chinese Tsuina custom.

At Hakozaki-gu Shrine, 6th-grade students from Hakozaki Elementary School, who are shrine parishioners, are invited to participate in the bean-throwing ceremony held alongside the Setsubun Festival.

Location: Hakozaki-gu Shrine grounds
