【Takumi Gallery Special Exhibition】Hakata Gion Yamakasa and Traditional Crafts
【たくみギャラリー】とくべつきかくてん「はかたぎおんやまかさとでんとうこうげい」
Experience the Traditional Crafts Behind Hakata’s Iconic Summer Festival
The Hakata Gion Yamakasa, one of Fukuoka’s most celebrated summer festivals, is a symbol of the pride and passion of the people of Hakata. Behind this dynamic festival are skilled artisans representing some of Fukuoka’s most renowned traditional crafts, including Hakata dolls (Hakata Ningyo), Hakata-ori textiles, and Kurume Kasuri weaving.
This summer, Takumi Gallery presents a special exhibition showcasing the traditional crafts closely connected to Yamakasa. Through live demonstrations and talks by master artisans, visitors can gain insight into the symbolism, craftsmanship, and techniques that have been passed down through generations. Don't miss this opportunity to discover the artistry and cultural heritage that support one of Fukuoka’s most treasured traditions.
