Akizuki Castle Town

秋月城下町

Akizuki had been the home for Taneo Akizuki(Harada) after he was assigned to Fukuoka in 1203 (Kennin 3) until he was forced to move to Hidakatakanabe by Hideyoshi Toyotomi. In 1624, (Kan-ei 1) Nagaoki Kuroda, the third child of Nagamasa Kuroda, became the lord of the Kuroda-han. A historical town scape still remains as the way it was.
Official designated important traditional asset district.
58.6 hectares in size.
Facility is barrier free (handicapped toilet and guide dogs permitted).

Access 20 minutes by bus bound for Akiduki from Amagi station. A 15 minute drive from the Amagi interchange off the Oita Expressway.
