Mount Kubote

求菩提山

As the mecca of Buzen mountain asceticism, Mt. Kubote is a religious mountain that has been called “The 500-monk Mountain”. The mountian has a peculiar hump sticking out of the middle of its hillside, and is also a Government-Designated Historical Site.
The “Otauesai” Festival (another Government-Designated Intangible Folk Cultural Asset) is held at Kunitama Shrine on March 29 of every year. The mountain comes to life with hikers taking in the sight of fresh greenery every spring (April through May) and foliage in the autumn (November)!
