Kitaya Co., Ltd.

喜多屋

Founded in 1820 (Bunsei 3) under the name “Kitaya” in Yame City, blessed with rich nature in the southern part of the Chikushi Plain—Kyushu’s leading granary—Kitaya boasts a history of more than 200 years.

The name “Kitaya” was chosen with the wish to “share many joys through sake,” a philosophy that remains at the core of the company today. The first head, Saikichi, was so passionate about sake brewing that he personally entered the brewery and served as tōji (master brewer). Since then, the family motto “The owner should brew sake personally” has been passed down through generations.
