Asai no Ippon cherry blossom

浅井の一本桜

A symbol of the community! Over 110 years old, with an imposing and overwhelming presence!

This 110-year-old mountain cherry tree, with a trunk circumference of 4.3 m and a height of 18 m, produces magnificent pink flowers every year.
The tree's imposing appearance with its dense blossoms and large trunk is overwhelming to behold. Under a blue sky, the "upside-down cherry blossoms" reflected in the pond are breathtakingly beautiful, and many people from inside and outside of the prefecture come to take pictures of them.
The yamazakura cherry trees have been carefully protected for many years by the kindness of the local people, and are designated as an important tree for Kurume City's landscape.
The cherry blossoms will be illuminated from 19:00 to 21:00 to coincide with the blooming of the trees.
*Lighting may be cancelled to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection.
