Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine – Setsubun Bean-Throwing Ceremony

【太宰府天満宮】節分豆まき神事

At a special stage on the shrine grounds, a bean-throwing ceremony is held where participants chant “Fuku wa uchi! Oni wa soto!” (“Fortune in! Demons out!”) while scattering beans to ward off evil spirits and misfortune.

During the festival, visitors can also receive “lucky uchiwa fans” and Setsubun lucky beans, which are believed to bring good fortune and drive away bad luck.

Bean-throwing times: Around 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM
