Munakata Taisha Shrine – Setsubun Festival

At this festival, illnesses and misfortunes that come with the changing seasons are symbolized as demons, and people throw beans to drive them away.

Every year, a bean-throwing ceremony (Mameuchi-shiki) is held, where prizes including local seafood and mountain delicacies from Munakata are scattered for participants to catch.
