Satsuki Matsubara Coast

さつき松原海岸

One of the 100 most beautiful scenic spots in Japan's 100 white sand and green pine trees in the Genkai National Park.

The pine grove stretches approximately 1 km wide and 5.5 km long along the bow-shaped coast between Kanesaki and Shinminato.
The pine grove was planted as a windbreak by feudal lord Nagamasa Kuroda in the feudal era and is known as the first of the Chikuzen Eight Pine Barrens. The islands of Oshima and Jijima float in front of it, and in summer the area is crowded with people swimming in the sea.
