Karatsu Kaido Akama-shuku

唐津街道赤間宿

Formerly prosperous as one of the 21 post towns of Chikuzen, even now you can see the white walls and latticed windows of the old townscape. The town is home to sake breweries and the birthplace of Sazo Idemitsu, the founder of the Idemitsu Kosan. These houses form a shopping street with the old houses used as stores. It has become a town that is closely related to daily life.
