Imai Gion Festival

今井祇園祭

A signature summer event in Yukuhashi, the Imai Gion Festival is dedicated to Imai Tsususa Shrine to pray for an abundant harvest and good health.
On the first and third day of the three-day festival, the tallest float in the Chikuzen region (15 meters [about 50 feet] tall) parades down the streets. The second night is called “Yo (Night) Gion” and bustles with stalls that locals have known and loved for many years. Moreover, visitors can observe various events such as the “Hono Renga (Collaborative Poem Dedication)”, a tradition that has continued since 1530 in which people including the chief priest make up a poem.
