Hakata's New Year's Festival: Prayers for prosperous business and Ebisu coins for good luck!

The shrine's most lively event is the "New Year's Grand Festival" around January 10.
The New Year's festival, which brings good luck and business prosperity, attracts about 1 million visitors who come to the shrine to buy lucky charms, such as omamori (charms), rakes, and fukuzasa (lucky bamboo brTokaebisu Shrine is located about 10 minutes by car from Hakata Station and is dedicated to Ebisu-sama.anches). About 300 stalls line the approach to the festival, where visitors can enjoy Hakata's culinary delights.

Starting with Hatsuebisu on January 8, followed by Yoebisu, Shodaesai, and Motoebisu, the festival lasts for four days, during which various events are held, such as a lucky draw and a lucky draw. The most spectacular of all is the Kachimairi (walking pilgrimage) held on the 9th (Yoebisu). The highlight of the festival is the Kachimairi, in which beautiful geiko from the Hakata Ticket Office (geiko's office), dressed in formal kimono with crests and ornamental ornamental hairpins, visit shrines on foot accompanied by the music of shamisen, flutes, and drums.

The "Ebisu sen" (money given by many people) is praised as a good-luck charm for wallets. The Ebisu-sen is a kind of money that is borrowed from Ebisu-sama and used as the principal of a business, which is then doubled and returned the following year in gratitude for a year of good fortune. This is a reference to the old custom of borrowing money from Ebisu-sama and then receiving new money, with the hope of "returning the money and attracting more good fortune. The Ebisu Sen is to be returned after one year to receive a new one.
