The original taste of Yanagawa! Eel steamed in a bamboo basket with a secret sauce

A long-established eel restaurant with a history of more than 340 years. It is also the first restaurant to introduce “Seiromushi" (eel steamed in a bamboo basket), which has become a Yanagawa specialty.
Seiromushi was invented as a way to enjoy cooked rice and freshly grilled eel together. The eel is grilled over charcoal (kabayaki) before being placed on a bed of rice soaked in sauce, and steamed twice in a seiro (Japanese steamer). The broiled eel is fragrant, and the golden thread egg (egg cooked and cut into strings) adds a beautiful color. The secret sauce, which has been passed down from the first owner, is not too thick and has an elegant flavor. The perfect balance between the fluffy texture of the kabayaki and the secret sauce is truly exceptional. The standard menu item is the Seiromushi Teishoku (set meal), which comes with vinegared eel and liver soup. For those who want to taste eel in a more luxurious way, we also recommend the Hae Teishoku.
The charming restaurant exterior, with its reed-thatched roof, and pure Japanese-style interior create a nostalgic and comforting atmosphere. Enjoy the taste and atmosphere while gazing at the beautifully landscaped garden.
