Yakuoji Hot Spring

薬王寺の湯

”Yakuoji Hot Spring” stands quietly in a valley, the ’inner parlor’ of Hakata. Their catchphrase is ’Land of Calming Waters, Yakuoji.’ Based on this, they promote environmental maintenance where people and nature can interact. The person who discovered this radon/radium mineral spring was a researcher of theology and old texts, Mahiro Shimizu. Visitors can explore hiking trails (Atago Shrine - Kawachi Pond), pottery kilns (Keisen-gama), and a nature park, and the good-humored villagers will be glad to entertain visitors.
