Koishiwara Ware

小石原焼

Koishiwara Ware are being produced in Toho Village located in the east of Fukuoka prefecture. The origin is back to 1,600s, when the thrid Lord Mitsuyuki Kuroda invited potters from Imari, Saga Prefecture, to Fukuoka. Special way of carving and dripping is applied. The simple potteries have been used in daily life and loved by many. In Brussels World’s Fair, 1958 it received high evaluation and was awarded a grand prize.
