Morikigama (pottery)

The plateware produced at a Koishiwarayaki Pottery, Morikigama is characterized by the usability in daily life. The colors of glaze which glitter green or blue are so beautiful. Presently, the second owner, Mr. Kenji Moriyama manages the workshop. He is from Kitakyushu and at the age 18, he was apprenticed to Koishiwara Pottery. ”I want historical potteries to keep protecting the tradition. I wish a person who came from outside can be the gateway to familiarize Koishiwara Pottery to the public”, says Mr. Moriyama. He continues to making potteries strongly wishing that people know about Koishiwara Pottery.
