Gyoja cedar in Koishiwara

小石原の行者杉

The name ”Gyoja cedar” is from the historical story that the mountain ascetic who practiced there sacrificed broken cedars. The cedars which are 50 meters high and over 200 to 500 years old, have grown in clusters presenting an impressive sight.
