Hoshino Onsen Ikeno Yamaso

In Hoshino Village, famous for its beautiful starry skies, this onsen inn stands on a hill in Hoshi no Furusato Park, embraced by rich forest.
The two-story lodging building has 14 rooms in total—Japanese-style, Western-style, and Japanese-western.Rooms furnished with Hoshino folk craft furniture and rooms with semi open-air baths are especially popular.
The pride of the property is the onsen you can enjoy in the separate day-use building, Hoshi no Onsenkan Kirara.It’s a gentle alkaline simple onsen with a soft, smooth feel.The popular open-air baths come in two types: “Miharashi no Yu” and “Mori no Yu,” with men’s and women’s sides switching on even and odd-numbered days.And the star-filled sky seen from the open-air bath is truly breathtaking.
Dinner is another delight: Japanese kaiseki featuring seasonal local ingredients such as yamame trout from the clear Hoshino River, mountain vegetables, and beef—flavors you can only find in a rich rural mountain area.
