Nakama-shi Community Exchange Center

中間市地域交流センター

This is the tourism hub for Nakama City. You will also find extensive information on the World Heritage Onga River Pumping Station!

The Nakama-shi Community Exchange Center houses a tourist information desk, an information center on the World Heritage Onga River Pumping Station, and the Nakama City History and Folklore Museum. The World Heritage Onga River Pumping Station information center explains the value of the station as a world heritage site, offers videos of the interior of the station which is closed to the public, and gives further details about world heritage sites in general. Meanwhile, the Nakama City History and Folklore Museum covers the history of the local area, including a diorama of the Nakama Karato, designated as a cultural property by Fukuoka prefecture, and information about the history of coal in the city. Electric-assisted bicycles can also be rented here, and the nearby area is a great place for walks. Also, there is a market on the grounds, the Fresh Market Sakura, that sells fresh local vegetables and fruits, boxed lunches, and freshly baked bread.
