Kukinoumi Fireworks Festival

くきのうみ花火の祭典

A summer tradition in Dokai Bay! Fantasy of Sound and Light

The "Kuki-no-Umi Fireworks Festival" began in 1986 with the aim of revitalizing the community and promoting the Kitakyushu Port Dokai area. In 2025, the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary with around 5,000 fireworks, including spectacular set pieces and powerful aerial displays.

A special barge will be placed in the middle of Dokai Bay to launch giant size No. 8 fireworks and rapid-fire starmines. The location on the water creates breathtaking views, and the massive fireworks bursting directly overhead are truly unforgettable. True to Wakamatsu’s reputation as a “town of jazz,” some fireworks will even be synchronized with jazz music, adding a unique rhythm to the autumn night sky.

Starting in 2025, the festival will be held in October, when the weather is more stable and there is less risk of heatstroke or cancellations due to typhoons.
