Kyushu Olle Munakata/Oshima Course

【Notice of Temporary Course Closure (Updated on August 14, 2025)】
Due to the heavy rain that began on August 9, 2025 in the Kyushu region, multiple landslides and road damage have occurred along the Kyushu Olle Munakata–Oshima Course. For safety reasons, the course is temporarily closed. Some areas have not yet been inspected and remain highly dangerous, so please do not enter.
Inspections of unconfirmed areas and restoration work at damaged sites will be carried out in near future, however, there is no estimated date for reopening at this moment. Once the reopening date is decided, it will be announced on the website.


Oshima is full of beautiful natural landscapes, its deep history can be felt.It is the only island olle course in Kyushu Olle.

Along the course there are Munakata grand shrine nakatsu no miya enshrined Tagitsuhime no kami the second daughter god of three sisters and Okitsu no miya yohaijo to worship Munakata grand shrine okitsu no miya enshrined the oldest daughter god Tagorihime no kami located at Okinoshima known as a sacred place where gods dwell, which empower people in the region.

Okinoshima is 50km away from Oshima. It is generally prohibited to enter the island, however it is possible to worship Okitsu no miya from Okitsu no miyayohaijo from Oshima. Also a red seal of its shrine is given at the office of Nakatsu no miya.

This course is 11.4km long, requires about 4-5 hours to complete, intended for intermediate or advanced trekkers.
