Kanmon Bridge

関門橋

This bridge was opened as a bypass for the Kanmon Highway Tunnel, as well as an expressway for linking the Chugoku-Jukan Expressway and the Kyushu-Jukan Expressways. It is the second largest authentic suspension bridge in Japan after Wakato Bridge. The view from the channel is also beautiful; from the Moji Port side you can see Mekari Park, and Mojiko Retro Area and from the Shimonoseki side you can see Dan-no-ura and Ganryu-jima. The bridge is lit up at night and decorated in illuminations which makes the night scenery of the Kanmon Channel even more beautiful. From Mekari Park you can see the close-up bridge.
