Kawachi Wisteria Garden

Selected by CNN as one of Japan’s 31 most beautiful places, this garden draws tourists from around the world to its fuji (wisteria) flowers. 
Featuring around 22 species of wisteria, which are at their best from late April to mid-May, the sight of Noda Naga Fuji (a vine with particularly long lines of flowers) covering over 3,300 m2 is spectacular. The crowning glory is the twin tunnels of 80m and 110m in length created from two cultivars of wisteria. Tunnel sightseers are delighted by the lustrous color gradations created by clusters of light purple, white and pink blooms. The soothing scent of the flowers greets you as soon as you enter the garden, making this the place for full immersion in wisteria.
Mid-November to early December is the season for changing foliage in a stand of about 700 trees. Bring good walking shoes because the maple leaf tunnel ascends a steep slope.
